Your own actions could be hurting you

SORA'S NEWSLETTER

There’s a lot that goes in your head when you’re building a business and making content on the internet.

So much that it can be tough to do the actual work.

There are so many moving parts and strategies.

Different people doing the same thing constantly trying to sell to you.

You start to notice who the person you’re inspired by is learning from and whose tactics they’re using.

And then you think that’s the course or coaching service you need to buy to get to where they are.

I know because I was doing just that.

I’ve been constantly worrying, panicking, feeling behind, and feeling that I’m not good enough.

So I bought things I thought I needed and felt terrible right after.

I eventually burned out from overthinking and self-doubt.

I felt like I couldn’t do anything.

Like I was incapable of achieving my goals.

In a way though, these feelings were actually teaching me something.

I kept repeating things that got me feeling the same way because I wasn’t learning from my mistakes.

Every time I ended up in the loop of self-doubt and panic, I dug myself deeper.

I felt worse because I often bought or found a new thing to hide those feelings.

The only thing that would always snap me out of those terrible thoughts and feelings was action.

Not just any action.

But, the right ones.

To do this, I needed to acknowledge and accept my current actions to make changes.

So no - a new book, course, or piece of gear won’t get you anywhere unless you do the work you’re supposed to do.

Here's what's helping me move forward instead of being stuck in the worry loop:

1) Take responsibility

To change, you must acknowledge and accept your current actions.

That you are where you are because of you.

This is the first step to any change because now you can look at your actions and decisions objectively.

2) Write it all out

Your thoughts, feelings, anything, and everything that comes to mind.

Write it all without judgment.

Then try to understand why you might be feeling or thinking that way.

3) Look at your inputs

Are you doing the work?

Or do you think you're doing the work?

Are you overthinking and not doing anything about it?

4) Check in with your feelings

Are you doing things aligned with your values? or someone else's?

Are you overwhelmed adding one thing after the other? Thinking that will magically solve your problems?

Maybe you need to subtract things that are distracting or draining?

Like results, your feelings about things are also telling you something.

Don't neglect them.

5) Make more mistakes

Actions aren't enough if they are not the right ones to achieve your goals.

But you won't always know what the right actions are.

More mistakes = more lessons.

More lessons = better actions.

6) Remember that taking action is key.

It's easy to get caught up in our thoughts and feelings.

And if you're making mistakes, you're already taking action, just not the right ones yet.

Through learning about yourself through mistakes and lessons, you will:

  • know what you need to do,
  • know what to say yes or no to,

It's through consistent action, you can:

  • move forward,
  • get rid of self-doubt, and
  • find out what you need to do more or less of.

#007- 31 July 2024 SORA'S NEWSLETTER Hey friends, A lot happened this month. I feel like I’ve leveled up mentally and physically. So in today’s letter, I share 3 lessons learned from my experiences that can help bring your mental game forward. Sign up for something you aren’t ready for In early June, I signed up for a half marathon that took place in July 21st. I could barely run 2k straight when I signed up. I also only had exactly under 6 weeks to prepare for it. The plan was to increase my...

#006 - 22 June 2024 SORA'S NEWSLETTER Hey friends, It’s been a while, and I've missed connecting with you. Last month was challenging for me, so I’ve been using June to recover. Slowly, but surely, I’ve been making progress. In this letter, I want to share small but powerful actions that have made a big difference. Do small, but ‘good’ things Good: going for a walk, getting some sunlight, saying no to overeating. Bad: watching TV, scrolling on social media, leaving things to the last minute....

#005 - 26 May 2024 SORA'S NEWSLETTER Hey friends, I hope you are doing well. This month has been tough mentally, so I took some time away from publishing content. Instead I've been focusing on my mental health and my freelance business. 3 Lessons 1. Working all the time is bad for your brain I'm most creative when I don't try to create. It's when I go for walks, lift weights at the gym, or am about to sleep – I'm an idea machine! The ideas don't stop pouring. I forget this a lot though. That...
